Title: Private Chaotic Biometric Template Protection

Speaker: Dr Sanaa Ghouzali

Abstract: Biometric authentication systems have proven a priority over traditional systems such as passwords and tokens. But while biometrics ensure uniqueness, they do not provide secrecy and security of the users data. Many attacks can be launched against biometric systems resulting in the reduction of these systems credibility. Specially, the attack on the biometric templates stored in the system database compromises the integrity of these templates (such as adding a new template, modifying an existing template, removing a template, etc.), which threatens the security and privacy of user identity. In this talk I present the design and development of a new approach for biometric template protection based on the chaotic behavior of logistic map. The proposed biometric template protection algorithm satisfies the requirements of revocability, diversity and privacy while preserving the recognition performance.

Speaker's Bio: Dr. Sanaa Ghouzali received both the Master's and the Ph.D. degrees in computer science from Mohamed V-Agdal University (Rabat, Morocco) in 2004 and 2009, respectively. Between 2005 and 2008 she stayed in the Visual and Communication Laboratory of Cornell University (Ithaca, NY, USA) as a visiting student on a joint-supervision program under a Fulbright grant. After receiving her Ph.D. degree, she worked as an Assistant Professor at ENSA (the National school of Applied Sciences) within the University of Abdelmalek Essaadi (Tetuan, Morocco). Starting 2012, she joined King Saud University as an Assistant Professor in the Information Technology Department within the College of Computer and Information Sciences.
Her research interests include statistical pattern recognition, Biometrics, Biometric Security and Protection.
