My Journey in Affective Computing

Presenter: Dania Al-Omar

Abstract: This talk will present an overview of my research in affective computing, conducted in KSU. In recent years, combining measures from bio-sensors with interaction logs have been explored by HCI researchers as viable techniques for effectively capturing emotional states and interpreting them over time and designing systems that can adapt or respond to such variations. The focus of this presentation is my journey in exploring the world of affective computing:

"Affective Computing is computing that relates to, arises from, or deliberately influences emotion or other affective phenomena."

Presenter: Dania Al-Omar
Dania is a Computer Science MSc student at King Saud University's College of Computer and Information Sciences. She is a Teaching Assistant in the Computer Science Department in Imam University. Her MSc project, completed in Jun 2012, involved the design and development of emotional intelligence screening systems based on physiological measures of humans, supervised by Dr. Manar Fawzi and Dr Areej Al-Wabil.
