Embodied Interaction

Title:  Conceptual Foundations of Software Engineering in Embodied Interaction Design: Brain, Body, and Bytes

Speaker: Dr. Areej Al-Wabil, Software Engineering Department, KSU

Abstract:

Human senses are developed through our lifetime of interaction with the physical world. Embodied Interaction applies cognitive concepts to software design and seeks to realize seamless interfaces between digital information, users and the interaction space.

In this talk, we present projects that give tangible forms to digital information (making physical objects perceptible and susceptible to direct manipulation) and visualize complex information in interactive modalities to support human cognition. We discuss how these Complex Systems (Systems of Systems SoS) build on the richness of human senses as well as the computational functionality enabled by real-time sensing and advances in interactive technologies.
